Hannes & Fritz

Design duo Hannes & Fritz—comprising Swiss designer Johannes Breuer and German designer Fritz Gräber—is celebrated for an elemental approach that distills functional furniture into honest, robust, and accessible forms. Meeting during their studies at the ÉCAL (École cantonale d’art de Lausanne), the pair joined forces to combine German rationalist construction with refined Swiss sensibility. Hannes & Fritz achieved global recognition through their fruitful partnership with Danish design house HAY. Their defining breakthrough is the Weekender collection, led by the beloved Palissade-adjacent Weekday bench and table series. Inspired by the classic picnic bench, the collection utilizes solid pine treated for outdoor durability, engineered with friendly rounded planks and unpretentious joinery. Their work focuses on fostering informal human connection, communal dining, and material longevity.
