Danish architect Flemming Lassen (1902–1984) was an essential pioneer of Nordic functionalism, renowned for introducing generous, organic curves and deep domestic comfort to Danish Modernism. Working alongside Arne Jacobsen—with whom he designed the radical circular House of the Future (1929)—Lassen united architectural discipline with tactile human warmth. Lassen achieved design immortality with the iconic The Tired Man (Den Trætte Mand, 1935) armchair, reissued today by Audo Copenhagen. Featuring overstuffed sheepskin upholstery, a curving silhouette, and small wooden feet, it was designed to make the sitter feel "as warm and safe as a polar bear cub." His portfolio also includes the monumental Mayor Sofa (co-designed with Jacobsen) and the architectural Ingeborg Chair.
