{"title":"Achille Castiglioni \u0026 Pio Manzu","description":"Italian masters Achille Castiglioni (1918–2002) and Pio Manzù (1939–1969) forged one of industrial design’s most legendary posthumous collaborations. While Castiglioni was already an established maestro of Milanese ready-made rationalism, Manzù was a brilliant automotive designer whose sudden passing in 1969 left behind pioneering sketches of a vertically sliding light source.\n\nTaking Manzù's initial automotive-inspired sketches, Castiglioni resolved the design in 1971 to create the iconic Parentesi lamp for Flos, which earned the prestigious Compasso d'Oro in 1979. Suspended between ceiling and floor, the design relies purely on mechanical tension: a shaped nickel-plated steel tube slides and locks along a counterweighted aircraft cable via friction without screws or gears.","products":[{"product_id":"parentesi-floor-lamp-black","title":"Parentesi Floor Lamp","description":"The Flos Parentesi Lamp is an iconic piece of design history, co-designed by Pio Manzù and Achille Castiglioni.
